As part of our continued work supporting local developments in Accrington, the team at Earthed Electricians Ltd recently completed a range of electrical services at the Spire Court Apartments Gym, located in the converted Cannon Street Church.
This project combined our technical expertise with the practical demands of a modern fitness facility, delivering a safe, reliable and high-quality finish throughout.
About the Project
Spire Court is a landmark residential development in the heart of Accrington. Formerly Cannon Street Baptist Church, the building has been beautifully repurposed into high-specification apartments. As part of this transformation, a dedicated on-site gym was created for residents, and our team was brought in to carry out all associated electrical works.
What We Delivered
We were responsible for the full electrical installation throughout the gym space. Our work included:
Lighting design and installation
We supplied and fitted all overhead lighting, using modern LED fittings to ensure bright, even illumination with low energy consumption. We also installed feature lighting to enhance the gym’s interior and support zoning between cardio and weights areas.
Power and socket installations
We installed wall and floor sockets positioned for equipment such as treadmills, cross-trainers and weight machines. Power was also supplied for televisions, charging stations and other resident amenities.
Emergency lighting and safety systems
As with all communal facilities, emergency lighting and compliant safety systems were essential. We installed maintained and non-maintained emergency fittings, ensuring safe exit routes in line with building regulations.
Consumer unit and circuit protection
A dedicated consumer unit was installed to serve the gym, complete with RCBO protection to comply with the latest edition of the wiring regulations (BS 7671:2018). This ensures safe distribution and easy maintenance.
Testing and certification
We carried out full testing and certification of all systems before handover, including EIC documentation, ensuring the client had everything needed for future inspection and compliance.
